Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:
- Monsoon season is around the corner, and the City of Scottsdale is offering resources and tips for residents to prepare! The city recommends having a household emergency plan, which should include identifying travel routes and items needed for an emergency evacuation. Also, brush up on the Ready, Set, Go program. Residents should be ready for potential emergencies, get set "by maintaining awareness of events that may force evacuation," and go (or evacuate) "as instructed by emergency authorities." Scottsdale Fire Department will provide Ready, Set, Go presentations for organizations, neighborhoods, and businesses; those can be scheduled online. (City of Scottsdale)
- Mochilero Kitchen is set to expand to north Scottsdale at 14850 N Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd., Suite 117. The Peoria-based, family-owned restaurant is expected to open in May, offering made-to-order "popular and traditional dishes from south of the border." Jorge Cota and Meliza Miranda, siblings and co-owners, will bring their "combined decades of experience in food and drink" to this second location. (KTAR.com)
- Though we had a snowy and wet winter, further Colorado River supply shortages are expected. The City of Scottsdale is asking businesses and residents to cut water usage by at least 5 percent, but resources are available to assist in this effort. You can schedule an irrigation system checkup by calling 480-312-5650. Residents can take advantage of several water saving rebates, and you can check out your water usage and get notified of leaks through the WaterSmart portal. (City of Scottsdale)
