Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. Is the bubble about to burst around soaring home prices in the Metro area? According to reporting in AZ Big Media, rapidly increasing prices led to "fierce bidding wars," efforts to increase supply through new home construction have failed, and radical increases in home values have fueled a sell-off by families looking to cash in. This piece attempts to answer the question: "Is there a potential housing market crash on the way in 2022?" (AZ Big Media)
  2. At Foothills Animal Rescue, the team is dedicated to providing excellent care to the animals. 400 volunteers serve the Foothills Animal Rescue 365 days a year. According to the Scottsdale Independent, the shelter is also supported by generous donors who make it possible to help "as many animals as possible... to serve animals in need, focusing on those that may have special medical or behavioral problems." The rate of adoptions has remained consistent through the pandemic years, and recently the shelter has seen an increase in animals being surrendered. (Your Valley)
  3. Gov. Doug Ducey wants to keep kids in school. Local Phoenix doctor Frank LoVecchio suggests that's going to be a challenge. In reporting by AZ Family, LoVecchio said,
"I think we're in for a world of hurt this next six weeks or so, and what I mean by a world of hurt is people calling in sick; maybe we have to switch to a hybrid model for a little bit or at least be ready." The report includes recent actions by significant districts, including Scottsdale, Kyrene, and Gilbert. (Arizona's Family)
