Here are the 3 top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. A breath of fresh air! "We get winter storm systems that move through, but between those storm systems, we get high pressure that results in light winds here in the Valley, and that can result in poor air quality across the region," said Matt Pace, Ph.D., an air quality meteorologist for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. In an AZ Family report, Pace explained that as a result of recent rains, "the wettest Christmas Eve on record," the air quality is better than is typical for this time of year. "Certainly, when you see the storm systems come through, you get excited because that does mean better air quality for everyone," said Pace. (Arizona's Family)
  2. An AZ Family's report on omicron-caused flight delays shared the excellent news that Sky Harbor appears to be experiencing minimal delays. According to the report, "Wednesday, Sky Harbor reported at least 45 cancellations, down from more than 275 cancellations on Christmas Eve. American Airlines said 80 percent of flights in and out and Phoenix are arriving on time." However, several airlines reported that omicron is affecting the availability of some flight crews. (Arizona's Family)
  3. Arizona Boardwalk is located at 9500 East Via de Ventura in Scottsdale. The free line-up of family entertainment includes "family-friendly meet-and-greets with costumed characters, animal guests, live performances, and more," according to City Sun-Times reporting. Upcoming activities include Family Fun Winterfest on Jan. 2, Conservation Expo on Jan. 15, and Family Fun Action and Adventure Festival on Jan. 22. Click here for a complete list, including times.
