Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:

  1. Scottsdale resident Rose McBride, who is 85 years old, is a contestant in the 2023 Ms. Senior Arizona Pageant! The competition will take place on Sunday, June 10 at the Palm Ridge Recreation Center, 1300 W. Deer Valley Drive, Sun City West. General admission is $25, and doors open to the public at 3 p.m. Contestant ages range from 63 to 85. Best of luck, Rose! (Free: NewsBreak, Subscription: Daily Independent)
  2. Yelp will be closing its Old Town Scottsdale Galleria office, and the employees in Arizona will move to fully remote work. The Scottsdale office had "employee utilization of less than 6 percent" in the past month. The company had also decided to "reduce its footprint in the Valley" last year. (Subscription: The Arizona Republic, Subscription: The Business Journals)
  3. Kasai Japanese Steakhouse, owned by Mike Russello, is hosting the 2nd Annual Fire & Fairways Charity Golf Tournament to raise money for Arizonans for Children, which is a nonprofit organization supporting children in foster care. After donating over $10,000 to the organization last year, Russello hopes to double the money raised this year. The tournament will take place on Monday, June 5 at 6:30 a.m. at Scottsdale Silverado Golf Club, 7605 E. Indian Bend Road. Visit fireandfairways.com for more information about the sold-out event.
