Scottsdale Police Arrest Looter Trying To Sell Stolen Goods

Phoenix man was caught selling items taken from Tiffany and Montblanc during last May's riots. He also was ID'd on surveillance video.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Scottsdale police arrested a Phoenix man last Thursday who is suspected of looting items from luxury stores last May when protests against police brutality turned violent, the Scottsdale Police Department reported.

Paul Anthony Ruiz, 25, was charged with nine felony counts of Burglary and Trafficking Stolen Property. Police identified Ruiz trying to sell items that had been stolen from Tiffany & Co. and Montblanc in downtown Scottsdale. Police said Ruiz also was captured on store surveillance camera video removing items from those stores during the riots, and he was in possession of merchandise from those stores at the time of his arrest.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department,55 arrests now have been made for crimes committed during the the riots, which took place May 30 and 31. Over $235,000 worth of stolen merchandise has been returned to businesses.
