Here are the top three stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. There is a new music school in Scottsdale. The Desert Hills Community School of Music has opened its doors on the Desert Hills Presbyterian Church campus on Tom Darlington Road and Carefree Highway. The school will be offering group piano, group strings class, saxophone ensemble, music exploration class, and private lessons. (citysuntimes)
  2. The Scottsdale City Council reviewed the "Cooler Scottsdale" study during Tuesday's council meeting. The study was a partnership between Arizona State University and the city to map out the city's urban hot spots. Old Town Scottsdale has been identified through the study as one of the city's worst hot spots. The city plans to increase urban tree canopy, reduce dark asphalt, and improve pedestrian shade options. (Arizona's Family)
  3. Scottsdale-based Solterra Senior Living is expanding to the Colorado area. The company will be constructing a 142-room independent and assisted living community in Castle Rock, Colorado. Additionally, the company is considering an additional independent living center in Old Town Scottsdale. (The Business Journals)
