Good morning, people of Scottsdale! Geoff Campbell here with the latest Scottsdale Daily. The workweek is coming to a close — check out the Scottsdale Patch for things to do this weekend.

First, today's weather:

Another beautiful day — Clear with a high 86, and a low of 70.

Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. Maricopa County Sheriff's Department has been recruited by the Scottsdale Police to join the search for Najib "Jubi" Monsif who has been missing for more than a week. A KPNX interview with the family revealed the increasing anxiety relatives are feeling as the length of Jubi's absence grows. "Although he is a 20-year-old young man, this is a missing child and it needs to be handled as such and addressed as such," said his sister Josie. George, Jubi's brother, said that following an evening of video gaming, "I was saying good night and he said, 'I'm never going to see you again.' I was like, 'what do you mean,' and he said, 'nothing, I'll talk to you later.'" Najib Sr., Jubi's father summed up the family's distress, "We need our angel back; we worry about him, that he's not been hurt." If you have information about this case please call the Scottsdale Police Department at 480-312-5000. (12news.com KPNX)
  2. Lurking beneath a manhole cover near Raintree Drive, a swarm of bees sent two people to the hospital, according to KPNX news. The substantial hive was foamed by emergency personnel but only after one victim's injuries were considered critical and another less so. A local beekeeper completed the task of quelling and removing the hive. (ABC15 Arizona)
  3. Taking their case all the way to Scottsdale City Council, Villa Monterey residents Lori and Richard Huckle were granted permission to extend a wall around their patio which had previously been prevented by Scottsdale's Historic Preservation Commission (HPC). Reporting in The Daily Independent pointed out the unusual nature of a "$500 landscape project" on the docket of the City Council. The appeal to the Council followed the August denial by the HPC —Mayor David Ortega was asked to weigh in as well, "I would support it as approved." (Your Valley)
