Happy Wednesday, fellow Scottsdallians! Let's get this party started. Here's what's going on!

First, today's weather:

Today, look for partly sunny skies with a high temperature of 81 and a low of 52. Enjoy our weather today!

Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. Jann-Michael Greenburg is out as Scottsdale Unified School District Board president. According to Patch reporter Caitlin Sievers, Greenburg lost his leadership role of the Scottsdale Unified School Board at a meeting Monday, following the recent news of a dossier kept on parents critical of SUSD policies and procedures. The vote was not close at 4-1, and while there were calls for Greenburg's resignation from the board altogether, he will remain on the board as an at-large member for now. Patty Beckman was elected to replace Greenburg as president until his president's term is up. The dossier — the crux of the issue, is said to include records of parents expressing their views on critical race theory and COVID-19 district protocols, according to a report in the Arizona Republic. (Scottsdale Patch).
  2. "Princess" is bright orange, spiney, beady-eyed, and not dinner. And that's a fair description of the one in 30 million lobster that has a new home at Odysea Aquarium —Scottsdale, according to reporting on ABC15. Almost dinner this summer when 'Princess' was discovered at Scottsdale's Nobu, a Japanese restaurant in Scottsdale; instead, it was donated to the aquarium where visitors can see it at any time. (ABC15 Arizona)
  3. The ASU Innovation Center at SkySong is growing! According to reporting in AZ Big Media, NeoLight, which was started by four ASU Master's students in 2014, "developed a device to eradicate neonatal jaundice." The company is expanding. "SkySong is home," said Vivek Kopparthi, co-founder and CEO of NeoLight, "This is where we started... there's a lot of [synergies] and a lot of startups at work at SkySong, so it is always that competitive environment." In addition, HomeLight, a real estate technology company, recently moved its home base to the SkySong Center. "Throughout HomeLight's rapid growth, SkySong has proven itself to be the ideal headquarters for HomeLight's innovation as we continue to expand and hire up to 500 employees within the Scottsdale area," said Sumant Sridharan, chief operating officer of HomeLight.
