Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:
- Three Scottsdale residents have been selected for Junior Achievement of Arizona's "18 Under 18" awards! Congratulations to Zack Okun of Desert Mountain High School, Georgia Bukata of BASIS Scottsdale, and Sanya Somani of Phoenix Country Day School! Recognizing "the best and the brightest of 2023," the award honors 18 students who "serve as role models, leaders, and innovators" while making a difference in their communities. (East Valley Tribune, Junior Achievement of Arizona)
- Check out the latest episode of Veterans AZ titled "The Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation." As a reminder, Veterans AZ is a video series program produced by the City of Scottsdale, in partnership with the Scottsdale Veteran Advisory Commission, to celebrate the stories and accomplishments of veterans across the state. This latest episode "focuses on a unique partnership between veterans of the United States Marine Corps, and veterans of Federal law enforcement agencies like the FBI." (City of Scottsdale)
- The Greater Scottsdale Airpark 2023 Report indicates that "demand for commercial space in the area is exceeding supply and development of new space is being handled at a healthy pace." An "increase in housing units," the sale of CrackerJax, and the auction of land to HonorHealth and Axon are just some of the examples of the increasing demand for commercial space at the Scottsdale Airpark. Future projects include additional retail space, commercial space, and luxury residences. (East Valley Tribune)

From my notebook:
- The Scottsdale Police Department received the following kudos: "I wanted to send you a quick note to say how grateful and appreciative my boyfriend and I were that you stopped to help with my broken-down car. I know you were driving home after a long day and just wanted to say thank you so very, very much! Had you not stopped to assist us, make numerous phone calls to PD and various tow truck companies — even have your son stop by to assist, I'm honestly not sure what we would have done." (Scottsdale Police Department via Facebook)
- "Join Scottsdale Fire Department in a role that helps us ensure great care for our patients. Performance Improvement Coordinator position applications open Monday! RNs and Medics needed! Check out the job description: https://bit.ly/PICJobDescription" (Scottsdale Fire Department via Facebook)
- Don't forget about Cancer Support Community Arizona, which offers free support to cancer patients and their loved ones. There are several virtual supporting offerings on their website, as well as in-person opportunities in Scottsdale. (Cancer Support Community Arizona)
