Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:

  1. Carolyn Leff's temple helped Ukrainians find homes in the U.S. in the 1990s when they were fleeing the USSR's demise. Three decades have passed, and Leff is helping again. "I just felt I need to do something," she said. "I need to let them know that I'm thinking of them." The resulting email campaign encourages and supports Ukrainians through prayer and connection. 2. Hotel Valley Ho and Mountain Shadows are running special deals in conjunction with National Sleep Awareness Month. According to AZ Big Media reporting, "These dreamy offerings are designed to lull you into a peaceful night of rest, enabling you to enjoy the mental and physical benefits associated with good sleep." Sleep is the reward, whether it's the bubble bath, meditation, or the Melatonin and hemp-infused patch. (AZ Big Media)
  3. Cronkite News, a Patch News Partner, reported that the Arizona Gay Rodeo took place recently at the Corona Ranch and Rodeo Grounds. Seen as a safe opportunity for anyone interested in participating in Western activities, founding member and 40-year veteran John Beck said, "We have to keep the country and Western atmosphere alive... it keeps kids interested, keeps them off drugs, keeps their brain straight and keeps them athletically in shape because a lot of school systems don't have classes or anything." The Arizona Gay Rodeo Association started in 1984. At the time, Arizona was the fifth state to do so. (Patch)
