Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. Waymo One, a "24/7 fully autonomous ride-hailing service," is expanding in Arizona and offering rides to Old Town Scottsdale! The company will increase the size of its Arizona areas served by four-fold, now covering "over 180 square miles of the Valley." Interested in getting a ride to Old Town in this driverless vehicle? Head to waymo.com for more information and to download the app. (ABC15 Arizona)
  2. Fasten your seatbelts for a story of local successes with national impact! Scottsdale pilot Pietro Marsala paved the way for diabetics to fulfill their dreams of becoming commercial pilots. Marsala "received the FAA's first medical certificate to fly for commercial airlines despite his type 1 diabetes" back in 2020, after advocating for special allowances for diabetic pilots using continuous glucose monitors. Coming full circle, ASU graduate Natalie Schatton, who was inspired by Marsala's achievement, is training to become a commercial pilot. To fly safely, Schatton uses a continuous glucose monitor developed by Dexcom in West Mesa — the same company that named one if its production lines 'Pietro' to honor Marsala. (East Valley Tribune)
  3. The Maricopa Home & Garden Show has returned to WestWorld of Scottsdale, 16601 N Pima Road! Beginning today and running through this Sunday, guests can enjoy "1,000 vendors, a slew of classes and a celebrity appearance by David Bromstad, the host of the HGTV show 'My Lottery Dream House.'" If you want to tour tiny homes, make clay pottery and candles, or learn about various home improvement techniques, you may want to check out this event! General admission is $10, and the event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Ahwatukee Foothills News)
  4. Dr. Daniel Gold, the Scottsdale dentist charged with multiple felonies, is facing a new accusation. Jinger Wolfe, a former patient, previously filed a complaint with the Arizona Dental Board claiming that Gold scammed her by charging $3,500 for fake Invisalign trays that cut her gums and cheeks. Wolfe stated that Gold offered her teeth whitening instead of a refund, but she is asking for her money back. (Arizona's Family)
