The company will increase the size of its Arizona areas served by four-fold, now covering "over 180 square miles of the Valley." Interested in getting a ride to Old Town in this driverless vehicle? 2. Fasten your seatbelts for a story of local successes with national impact! Scottsdale pilot Pietro Marsala paved the way for diabetics to fulfill their dreams of becoming commercial pilots. Marsala "received the FAA's first medical certificate to fly for commercial airlines despite his type 1 diabetes" back in 2020, after advocating for special allowances for diabetic pilots using continuous glucose monitors. Coming full circle, ASU graduate Natalie Schatton, who was inspired by Marsala's achievement, is training to become a commercial pilot. To fly safely, Schatton uses a continuous glucose monitor developed by Dexcom in West Mesa — the same company that named one if its production lines 'Pietro' to honor Marsala. (East Valley Tribune)
