🌱 West Nile Numbers Soar + "Shop It Forward" + Buddha's Ritual

Here are some of the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. Three cases and one death in 2020 to 847 cases and 62 deaths, so far in 2021; these are the numbers in Caitlin Siever's Patch report on the West Nile Virus. Maricopa County, including Scottsdale, experienced a wet summer due to active monsoons, and the resulting standing water provided the necessary breeding ground for mosquitos. According to Sievers, West Nile first appeared locally in 2003. Mitigating the impact of the buzzing biters has not changed, don't go outside without long sleeves and repellants and treat or eliminate standing water in your yard. (Patch Media)
  2. According to reporting in AZ Big Media, Fashion Square's "Shop it Forward Program" is all part of a celebration of the 60-year-old high-end shoppertunity destination. From 0ct.15 - Dec. 15, "shoppers are encouraged to log their receipts from any Scottsdale Fashion Square retailer and restaurant center-wide, over the 60-day period to earn points for the participating nonprofit partners. program." Other celebratory events will include experiences for shoppers in the arts, fitness, and fashion. (AZ Big Media)
  3. "Buddha's Ritual is coming to North Scottsdale this fall," according to a report in AZ Big Media. Mac Entertainment Group and friends have teamed up to create a unique fusion restaurant created by Freddy Nguyen, known for his creative designs. According to the report, the restaurant, "with a strong cocktail program," will be located on Bahia Drive and N. 92nd Street, in the SoHo building near WestWorld. The restaurant is currently interviewing to fill positions prior to the opening. (AZ Big Media)
