Here are the top 3 stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. Patch reports that President Joe Biden's plan to restrict or prevent Russian oil imports entirely could push gas prices even higher. Reportedly, the American Automobile Association said that prices hit a new high of $4.29 per gallon. According to the report, the U.S. restriction on Russian oil is a solo stance. These restrictions were not previously part of the comprehensive sanctions that the U.S. applied to Russia. (Patch)
  2. Captain, a 9-month-old Golden Doodle hailing from Peoria, has the distinction of being just the second police K9 to be designated "a school resource officer (SRO) with the police department," according to Fox 10 News. Captain will be serving with Alvin Pease at Coronado High School and other southern Scottsdale schools will benefit from his services. "He is a certified facility dog and is a trained canine that assists people that are experiencing anxiety, depression, or a manic state with a rise in cortisol levels," said Sgt. Kevin Quon. He adds, "Captain's duties will include providing comfort to victims, calming high-stress situations, and bridging gaps with students and community members." (FOX 10 News Phoenix)
  3. A free bicycle tour, Cycle the Arts, tours Scottsdale's public arts. According to the Phoenix New Times, it returns this year and begins at Western Spirit: Scottsdale's Museum of the West, 3830 North Marshall Way, on Sunday, April 3, at 8:30 a.m. "It's a fun and active way to explore Scottsdale and experience public art," Gina Azima, operations manager for Scottsdale Public Art, said in a press release. "This family-friendly bike ride will highlight 17 public artworks in the city's collection. Bike riders will have the opportunity to learn the history of each artwork on tour and discover something new." (Phoenix New Times)
