• Marana ICE detention facility to open within 60 days after private prison company inks $355M deal (tucsonsentinel.com) — Local leaders in Tucson, South Tucson and Pima County have all formally opposed a soon‑to‑reopen ICE detention facility in nearby Marana, even as federal officials move ahead under a $355 million contract. The center could eventually hold more than 1,300 people, prompting Southern Arizona activists and elected officials to question transparency, expansion plans and the broader immigration enforcement push affecting communities across the region.
