Growing number of cities getting rid of flock cameras (signalscv.com) — Tempe officials have shut off the city's Flock automated license plate reader system and are canceling the contract, citing growing concerns about privacy and potential misuse despite no known abuses locally. The move follows similar decisions in other cities nationwide and reflects a broader debate over how much surveillance Tempe residents should accept in the name of public safety.

Top 10 Events in the Valley in September & October (phoenixmag.com) — Several big fall events are headed to Tempe, including Phantom of the Opera and The Rocky Horror Picture Show Spooktacular Tour at ASU Gammage, plus Four Peaks Oktoberfest at Tempe Town Lake benefiting Tempe Sister Cities. The lawyer is questioning whether the grueling session in desert heat was appropriate and is pushing ASU to conduct an independent investigation into how the workout was planned and supervised.
