Today's riddle: Why are crows so alert and curious? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Tempe developing dementia-friendly park (roselawgroupreporter.com) — Tempe is planning a first‑in‑the‑nation dementia‑ and age‑friendly park inside Kiwanis Park, designed as a safe, calming space for older residents and their caregivers. Features will include wide walking paths, supportive benches, a gathering ramada, sensory landscaping, fencing, and nearby restrooms and parking. Local dementia expert and resident Jan Dougherty says the project reflects Tempe's broader effort to support aging neighbors at home and in the community.
2. East Valley PD seeks help in finding vehicle that struck teen girl (yourvalley.net) — Tempe police are asking for your help finding a dark gray 2014–2016 Mazda 3 that struck a 16‑year‑old girl in a crosswalk at Baseline Road and Calle Los Cerros Drive on Sept. 4. The car should have major damage to the front driver's side and missing bumper pieces, and tips can be shared by phone, text, or the city's online portal.
3. Driver admits to 100+ mph 'tire test' on Tempe freeway, troopers say (azfamily.com) — A driver was arrested after allegedly speeding at 114 mph on Loop 202 near Priest Drive in Tempe, telling troopers he was just testing his new tires. The Valley man now faces criminal speeding charges for going nearly double the posted limit, a reminder that DPS is aggressively enforcing safety on local freeways.
4. Scottsdale ranked as one of the nation's top places to retire (ktar.com) — Tempe ranks 17th nationally in WalletHub's new list of best cities to retire, performing especially well in quality of life, activities, and health care compared with other Arizona communities. While Scottsdale leads the state overall, Tempe tops Arizona cities in health care and scores strongly enough to be a serious contender for retirees weighing local options.
