  • Monday: Breezy in the morning, with a high of 80 and low of 58 degrees.

📰 News we're reading

• Solid Waste Request for Proposals (cityoftombstoneaz.gov) — Tombstone is seeking bids from companies to handle residential solid waste services, with sealed proposals due by the afternoon of October 23 and opened on October 26. Local haulers and regional firms can get the scope of work from City Hall or the city website, and the council reserves the right to reject any or all submissions.

• A Stolen BMW Chase Ended on Its Roof in Tombstone. Then the Case Kept Leading to the Circle K (theautowire.com) — A high-speed chase involving a stolen BMW ended in a rollover on Sumner Street in Tombstone, followed by a foot pursuit that wrapped up near the local Circle K. Deputies then linked five stolen vehicles from the Phoenix area to the incident, recovering three around Tombstone and two nearby with help from county and neighboring police agencies.

• Stay or Go? Benson PD using Flock license plate readers despite some objections (kgun9.com) — Benson’s city council has renewed its Axon contract without Flock license plate readers after residents and a councilman raised privacy and cost concerns, though the city still operates existing Flock cameras for now. If Benson ultimately drops the system, Tombstone and Willcox would stand out as the only Cochise County cities still using Flock readers, a distinction locals may soon be debating themselves.
