TUCSON, AZ — One of Midtown Tucson’s longtime restaurants is closing its doors next month.

The restaurant at 2526 E. Grant Road announced the decision this week, with partner-chef Kenneth Foy citing an upcoming building remodel and the ongoing Grant Road widening project.

The closure marks the end of a long run for one of Tucson’s better-known midtown restaurants. The announcement said the restaurant will remain open through its final day, giving regular customers one last chance to stop in before service ends.

“We will miss our community, friends, family and staff,” the announcement reads. “It has been an honor to serve Tucson for the last 13 years.”

Dante’s Fire built its reputation around a scratch kitchen, fine food in a casual setting and a happy hour that helped keep the restaurant open late into the night. Over the years, it developed a loyal following and picked up local and regional honors, including recognition for late-night dining and best margarita at the World Margarita Championship in 2022 and 2023.

Foy also became a familiar name in Tucson’s food scene. He was crowned Iron Chef of Tucson in 2022 and defended that title in 2023, adding to the restaurant’s profile as a longtime city fixture.

The announcement also told customers they still have time to stop in before the doors close for good. “You can still get your Escargot, Jalapeño Poppers and Chicken Marsala to the very end,” it said.

While the restaurant itself is closing, some of the business will continue. The Dante’s team will keep catering services going through Tucson Catering Company and Solana Spanish Villas after the restaurant shuts down.

No additional timetable beyond the July 19 closure date was included in the announcement. For now, the restaurant plans to continue normal service until then.
