TUCSON, AZ — A fast-moving fire destroyed a mobile home in Tucson Friday, injuring one person and forcing eight residents from two nearby properties to find a new place to stay, according to Tucson Fire.
Firefighters were called to the 1000 block of East Ginter Road after multiple reports of smoke and flames coming from a mobile home and spreading toward a neighboring property.
When Engine 14 arrived less than three minutes later, crews found a single-wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames. A total of 14 fire units responded to the scene.
Firefighters faced several hazards while working to contain the blaze, including a leaking propane tank, tires exploding from the heat, and a heavy accumulation of belongings inside the home and throughout the yard.
The fire also spread toward a neighboring property. Crews were able to prevent flames from reaching the second home, but items stored in the yard were destroyed.
One person was treated for injuries at the scene. Tucson Fire did not release the person's identity or provide details about the severity of the injury.
Eight residents from the two properties were displaced by the fire. The department did not say where they would stay.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials have not yet determined where the fire started or what sparked the blaze.
