TUCSON, AZ — Got an old computer collecting dust, a broken TV taking up space or a drawer full of tangled chargers? Tucson residents have several options for recycling unwanted electronics instead of throwing them away.
The City of Tucson is reminding residents that electronics contain materials that can be recovered and reused, while some components require special handling. Because of that, the city says old electronics should not be placed in curbside recycling carts or regular household trash.
The city's main option for electronics recycling is its Household Hazardous Waste Program, which allows residents to drop off a wide range of electronic items at the Los Reales Household Hazardous Waste site or during scheduled community collection events.

After collection, the electronics are sent to approved recycling partners, where reusable materials can be recovered and potentially reused while hazardous components are properly managed.
The program is designed for common household cleanouts — whether residents are replacing an old computer, upgrading a phone, clearing out unused cords or getting rid of a television that no longer works.
Residents who cannot use the city's Household Hazardous Waste Program can also look into other local organizations that accept electronics for recycling.
