Suspect in Tucson police recruit killing taken into custody (azcentral.com) — Tucson-area law enforcement arrested Alex James Barnett after a three-hour standoff at an apartment complex near Broadway and Camino Seco, days after a Tucson police recruit was fatally shot and his fiancée wounded. Of Blessed Memory: Carla Hinton (azjewishpost.com) — Tucson readers may remember Carla Hinton, a University of Arizona alum and 1989 Woman of Valor honoree at the Tucson Jewish Community Center, who has passed away at 74. Her life spanned decades of work in school psychology, deep social justice commitments, and a lasting love of art and the Southwest desert.
