1. Tucson School for the Blind earns state approval to take in public school students (azpm.org) — Families of visually impaired students in Tucson now have a new option, as Tucson School for the Blind is certified to enroll public school students without tuition. The downtown school can coordinate with Tucson Unified and other districts, offering Braille, mobility training, and therapies in a peer community after ASDB's relocation reshaped local services.
   

2. In need of new armor: Four Armory Park trees fall in Thursday evening monsoon storm (kgun9.com) — A powerful monsoon microburst toppled or damaged four mature trees in downtown Tucson's Armory Park, forcing the popular dog park area to close indefinitely. City crews are spending about $30,000 on tree removal and checking for underground utility damage, while the rest of the park remains open but under inspection.
   

3. True Concord orchestra votes to unionize; waits for negotiation meeting (tucsonsentinel.com) — Musicians with Tucson's True Concord Voices and Orchestra have voted overwhelmingly to unionize under the Tucson Federation of Musicians and are now pressing management to start contract talks. After announcing the move at a Tucson City Council meeting where Mayor Regina Romero voiced support, union leaders say a fair agreement would improve working conditions and strengthen the city's music community.
   

4. This Is Date Night: Explore Tucson without a car on this back-to-school streetcar date (tucson.com) — New and returning Wildcats can use Tucson's free Sun Link streetcar to turn a simple ride into a full date night, from University Boulevard to Fourth Avenue and downtown. The guide highlights budget-friendly food, quirky shops, and easy ways to explore more of Tucson without a car while you learn your new city.
   

5. Salpointe Catholic to retire Bijan Robinson's No. 5 jersey in assembly next Friday (tucson.com) — Tucson football fans will see hometown star Bijan Robinson return next Friday when Salpointe Catholic retires his No. 5 jersey at a morning assembly on campus. The Atlanta Falcons running back's honor also resonates at Tucson High, where his former position coach now leads the program and hopes Robinson's work ethic inspires current local players.
