2. FEMA finally reimburses Pima County for cost of housing migrants (kold.com) — Pima County has finally secured more than $3.5 million in FEMA reimbursement for migrant housing costs, easing a long-running funding dispute that directly affects local budgets and services in Tucson. 3. Santiago Jorge Rogers Arrested for Murder of Tucson Police Recruit (time.news) — Tucson residents are being urged to stay alert as deputies continue searching for murder suspect Alex James Barnett after the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Tucson police recruit Carlos Ramirez. Another suspect, Santiago Jorge Rogers, was arrested at a Tucson hotel, while investigators review surveillance footage from locations around town. Anyone spotting Barnett or his maroon Harley-Davidson should immediately call 911 or 88-CRIME.
4. Savannah Guthrie missing from Today Show after extended absence amid mother's disappearance (themirror.com) — The long-running search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, missing from her Tucson home since February, continues as her daughter, Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, again steps away from the anchor desk. Pima County investigators have released security images and ransom notes suggesting foul play, while the family is offering a $1 million reward. Tucson residents are urged to share any information that could help locate Nancy.
5. Labor Day picnic a magnet for political campaigns (kgun9.com) — Union members and political candidates gathered at a Tucson Labor Day picnic hosted by the Pima Area Labor Federation, where Mayor Regina Romero and other officials courted support.
