1. Downtown hotels seek tax breaks from Tucson Council as convention prospects improve (tucsonsentinel.com) — Tucson residents may soon see two new downtown hotels if the City Council approves requested tax breaks for the Tucson Inn and Marketplace and Marriott's Moxy Hotel. 2. Santa Rita Park reopens after $8M revitalization, bringing new amenities to Southside (kgun9.com) — Santa Rita Park on Tucson's Southside has reopened after an $8 million overhaul, adding a splash pad, new playground, sports fields, and walking paths shaped by extensive neighborhood input. Funded largely by Proposition 407 and other city sources, the park's return is being celebrated with a community movie night tonight at 401 E. 22nd St., complete with food trucks and family activities.
3. Tucson Classics Car Show @ The Gregory School – 106.3 The Groove (1063thegroove.com) — Tucson car lovers can mark their calendars for the Tucson Classics Car Show's 20th anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 24 at The Gregory School on Craycroft. 4. New Santa Cruz River report highlights wildlife ramp, trash cleanup efforts (kgun9.com) — Tucson residents along the Santa Cruz River are seeing new wildlife-friendly infrastructure and cleaner banks, thanks to a Living River report that guides projects from downtown Tucson to Marana. A new wildlife ramp, ongoing trash cleanups, and reclaimed water flows are improving habitat, water recharge, and public access, while volunteers continue removing tons of trash from the river corridor.
5. Savannah Guthrie cuts down Today schedule after mom's tragic abduction (newsbreak.com) — An ongoing kidnapping case involving Savannah Guthrie's 84-year-old mother centers on her disappearance from her Tucson home on February 1, with ransom notes but no solid leads.
