Arizona Dedicates Lute Olson Statue April 12
The legendary Wildcats coach led the team to 23 NCAA tournament appearances in his 24 years at the helm.

TUCSON, AZ – The University of Arizona has set a date for the dedication of a statue honoring legendary coach Lute Olson. The Wildcats will hold an invitation-only ceremony on April 12.
The two-hour ceremony will last from 4 p.m.-6 p.m..
Olson coached the team for 24 seasons, leading them to 23 appearances in the NCAA tournament.

During that time, he ran up a 589-187 record for a .759 winning percentage.
He was named PAC-10 Coach of the year seven times and the conference title 11 times.

He also led the team to their first-ever Final Four appearance in 1988. The statue dedication is part of the 30th anniversary of that event.
The 1988 appearance was followed by three more and the championship in 1997.
He was put in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002.
