TUSCON, AZ – Two United States citizens and one Mexican national were stopped by Customs and Border Patrol agents over the weekend as they attempted to smuggle drugs into the country in separate incidents. The incidents resulted in seizures of marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine.The first incident took place Friday evening when a officers at the Port of San Luis did a secondary check on a Ford Sedan driven by a 21-year-old U.S. citizen. The man was returning to the United States from Mexico.A Border Patrol canine led officers to 54 pounds of cocaine worth more than $614,000.The next afternoon, an 18-year-old U.S. citizen – also headed back from Mexico – was driving his Honda sedan when he was stopped by agents. A border patrol canine detected an odor and led agents to a compartment above the gas tank.There, they found about 34 pounds of methamphetamine worth about $32,000.On Sunday, a 28-year-old Mexican national was found with about 60 pounds of marijuana hidden in his Chevy truck.Photos via Customs and Border Patrol.
