Tohono Chul Botanical Gardens, Galleries, and Bistro, 7366 N Paseo Del Norte, Tucson, AZ, 85704

On Thursday, Aug. 20, Tohono Chul debuts “Behold the Gloaming Crepuscular”. This exhibition is the third installment in the “Sonoran Hourglass” series, which surveys how time moves over the Sonoran Desert in the most obvious and subtle of ways — through the air: the light, the temperature, the mood and the pressure — through the landscape: the creatures, the water, the plants and the earth — and through the cosmos.

“Behold the Gloaming Crepuscular” concentrates on the timeframe of dusk and all its workings. The exhibition features works by artists Michael Afsa, Amber Vanhatala Stene, Erinn Kennedy and Eduardo Palazuelos.

The exhibition debuts Thursday, Aug. 20 with an artist’s reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m. featuring live music in Sami’s Courtyard and a cash bar provided by the Garden Bistro. The reception is free and open to the public.

In addition to the opening reception, Tohono Chul will host two curator’s talks, featuring a discussion about “Sonoran Hourglass: Behold the Gloaming Crepuscular” led by Director of Arts James Schaub. The talks will be held Tuesday, Aug. 25 and Thursday, Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. in the Main Gallery’s Exhibit House. Both are free with garden admission.

“Behold the Gloaming Crepuscular” will remain on view through Sunday, Nov. 8.
