Casa Grande High School Apologizes For Senior Quote
The high school is apologizing for the quote, which is commonly associated with the Confederacy.

CASA GRANDE, AZ — A Casa Grande high school is apologizing after distributing yearbooks with a controversial senior quote, according to reports. The school estimates about 10 percent of the yearbooks were distributed before catching the quote, AZ Central reported.
"The South will rise again," one student wrote as their senior quote. School officials have since erased the quote from all yearbooks not yet distributed.
"We're trying to correct all yearbooks," one official said in a Facebook post, according to AZ Central. "We apologize, as this in no way represents the view of Vista Grande High School."

The school is facing backlash from some community members over their handling of the quote. "Will students with whom school staff disagree be allowed to graduate? Will students who come from Southern families be allowed to graduate?" one commenter said on Vista Grande's Facebook page on the post below.

Last year, a nearby high school went through a similar debacle. Poston Butte High School's yearbook had some senior quotes the school district deemed "inappropriate," according to AZ Central.
"I hate all of you," one Poston Butte senior quote said, AZ Central reported. "If you have never thought about dropping out and becoming a stripper once, you're lying," said another. Poston Butte offered to reimburse the yearbooks or stickers to cover the quotes. Vista Grande hasn't made any such statements on their Facebook page.
Vista Grande High School did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment on what actions, if any, they are taking.
