City Requesting Public Input On Proposed Green Infrastructure Fee

TUCSON, AZ — The City of Tucson is requesting that in-city business owners and residents share their input on a survey about the City’s proposed Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) project and its funding. The GSI program would give the community more stormwater management services at an extra fee collected from city residents.

The City’s survey aims to get city residents’ and business owners’ input on a proposed $.75 to $1.50 additional monthly utility bill fee to finance the GSI project. The fee would generate about $3 million per year, which would be used to maintain and build city projects capturing stormwater runoff from parking lots and roads. The water would then be rerouted to the city’s vegetated water harvesting areas. The survey is available in English or Spanish.

The Tucson City Council and mayor will deliberate the proposed fee during a Sept. 4 study session.
