Elgin Distillery's Rum Wins Best In Show
Elgin, located - in of all places, - Elgin, makes a rum that just won the gold medal at the American Craft Spirits Awards.

ELGIN, AZ – Big news for Elgin-based Elgin Distillery. Their Regalo de Vida Gran Rum just won the Gold Medal – Best in Show – at the annual meeting of the American Craft Spirits Awards.
It's yet another big win for Elgin, which won back-to-back honors as Arizona Whiskey Distillery of the Year from the New York International Spirits Competition.
The company, which prides itself for making what they call "artisanal" spirits, says they use only high-quality local ingredients in their products.

They describe their award winning rum as:
100% sugar cane from Sonora Mexico, fermented in 60 gallon barrels. Blended prior to stripping, and each stripping run is tasted and blended prior to the spirit run. The amber color is achieved by aging the rum in used and fairly neutral Bourbon barrels for one year. Clean nose of honeysuckle, pear and piloncillo, with caramel apple, orange flower and breadfruit.
