Extremely Rare Bird Sighting Near Tucson: Report
There just happens to be a ornithological conference in towns.

TUCSON, AZ — Birdwatchers rejoice! According to the American Birdwatching Association's blog, an extremely rare red bird was spotted near Tucson Monday.
The Red Warbler is an endemic of the Mexican highlands north of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, according to the ABA's blog. Though it was spotted on Monday, birdwatchers reported that it was silent.
It was spotted twice on Monday, adding a layer of rarity to an already incredibly atypical event. The sighting was at Rose Canyon Lake up Catalina Highway, according to the Arizona Daily Star.

The ABA blog said this particular bird was of the gray-cheeked subspecies, malanauris, the most northern of the Red Warblers.
The Daily Star reported that the sighting came at an especially good time, as hundreds of birders are in town for the annual American Ornithological Society conference in Tucson.
