Pima County and the Pima County Recorder’s Office want to help slow the spread of COVID-19 this election season. To help in that effort, voters are encouraged to request early ballots and vote by mail.

Plan for Early and Emergency Voting: Social Distancing and Health and Safety

• Any voter who appears to be ill will not be permitted in the site. The voter will still permitted to vote. Staff will provide their ballot to them outside the facility and they will need to vote their ballot outside. A staff member will then bring the ballot inside. That staff member will be required to wear a mask and gloves and will be required to immediately dispose of the mask and gloves and wash their hands before performing any other task.
• If the facility requires a temperature to be taken to enter the facility or has a mask/face covering requirement and the voter refuses, the voter will not be permitted into the site. The voter will still be permitted to vote, but must do so outside the facility in the same manner as a person exhibiting signs of illness. Masks/face coverings will not be provided to voters. They must bring their own.
• Voters must abide by social distancing guidelines and maintain 6 feet from any other person while waiting and voting. Voting booths at the sites will be spaced not less than 6 feet apart
• Voters are encouraged to bring in and use their own pens. If they do not, pens used by the voters will be wiped down with a bleach infused wipe after use.
• Poll workers will be required to wear a mask/face covering while working at the polls and will use the other supplies, such as gloves and cleaning supplies, on an as needed basis.
• Every two hours the voting booths will be sprayed with a disinfectant and then wiped down. If a voter coughs or sneezes in a booth or other area, the area will be sprayed with disinfectant and wiped down immediately after the voter leaves.
• Every two hours the door handles and door into the site will be sprayed with a disinfectant and wiped down.
• Every two hours the work surfaces that are used by voters will be sprayed with a disinfectant and wiped down.
• At the end of the day once all voters have left the site all of the surfaces listed above will be sprayed with a disinfectant and wiped down. Site workers will be required to remove all used masks, gloves, and other items from the site and dispose of them in a dumpster at the end of each day.
