The Admiration They are Due
The people who do our labor

Are the ones who make things go
While its the rich we now favor
The truth of life really isn't so
Without the ones who serve us
We can expect little of the day
They're the ones in who we trust
And often do so with very little pay
If all the wealthy stayed home tomorrow
Nothing much in the world would happen
The loss of their presence cause no sorrow
Not one real need of life would be flattened
If every one who was paid on an hourly wage
At just twenty-five dollars an hour or even less
Stayed at home to express their suppressed rage
We would all find our lives deeply in such distress
When we are left on hold for half an hour
We're at work for the company we called
We accept this as if we lost all our power
When we need to feel more like appalled
We labor subtly for these big companies
So they have less low-paid employment
Cash churners do just what they please
Enjoy lots of governmental entitlement
Those who labor do us great honor
What they get is scarce recognition
Deserve more than a scanty dollar
At least give them our admiration
