Larry Nassar Sent To Federal Prison In Tuscon

Larry Nassar, who was accused of abusing hundreds of gymnasts, is in federal prison n Tucson where they have a program for sex-offenders.

TUCSON, AZ – The man accused of sexually abusing hundreds of women and teens while serving as the team doctor for USA Gymnastics and running a sports medicine practice at Michigan State University will likely spend the rest of his life in Tucson. Larry Nassar was transferred to the United States Penitentiary there.

The high security prison is one nine facilities in the Federal Bureau of Prisons's Sex Offender Management Program. it is the only one that serves maximum security prisoners.

Nassar was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison last July after pleading guilty to child pornography charges. This past January, he was sentenced to an additional 175 years after he pleaded to seven counts of sexual assault of minors and then he received another 125 years after pleading guilty to three more counts.

If he were to survive the 60 years in federal prison – he's currently 54 – he would then be transferred to state prison in Michigan.

Among the other prisoners in Tucson are Brian David Mitchell, who kidnapped Elizabeth Smart and held her captive, and Louis Eppolito, the former decorated NYPD officer who is serving a life sentence after being convicted of being a hitman for the mob.
