TUCSON, AZ — A 31-year-old Tucson man is dead after being shot during a confrontation at a midtown residence late Sunday night. Police are investigating the incident as the city's 18th homicide of the year. Officers responded around 11:45 p.m. on June 15 to the 4800 block of East Pima Street near North Mountain Avenue after reports of suspicious activity and an unconscious man. They found Jesse Flores with gunshot wounds. Tucson Fire Department personnel transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts. According to the preliminary investigation, a dispute between several people at the residence turned physical, and Flores was shot. No arrests have been announced. Police have not identified any suspects or released additional details about what led to the confrontation. Tucson has recorded 18 homicides so far in 2026, compared to 27 at the same point last year. Anyone with information is asked to contact 88-CRIME.
