TUCSON, AZ — Tucson residents will get their first look at a newly renovated neighborhood park this week when the city hosts a completion celebration at Palo Verde Park.The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday at the park, located at 425 S. Mann Ave. Tucson Parks and Recreation, Mayor Regina Romero and Ward 2 Council Member Paul Cunningham are hosting the gathering, which marks the end of a project that brought new lighting, courts, a playground, ramadas and green stormwater infrastructure to the site.The stormwater improvements also added shade trees and upgraded the park's landscaping. Funding for the project came from multiple sources, including Proposition 407 bonds, impact fees, City Framework Funds, Green Stormwater Infrastructure funds and Ward 2 funding. The city is encouraging residents to attend and see the finished work firsthand. "Come out and see the newly upgraded park, featuring new lighting, courts, a playground, ramadas, and enhanced green stormwater infrastructure that adds shade trees and improves the landscape," the city said. The city also framed the event as a broader marker for the park's future. "We hope you'll join us in celebrating this exciting milestone and the continued growth of Palo Verde Park," the announcement reads. No registration is required. The city has not announced road closures or a formal program schedule.
