TUCSON, AZ – The Pima County Board of Supervisors overwhelming rejected a measure that would have raised sewer rates as much as 16 percent for the majority cf commercial customers. The vote was 4-1 against the proposal.Backers of the proposal said that the current system has residential customers subsidizing commercial ones.Opponents said the measure, which backers said would have generated approximately $3.5 million in additional revenue, was based on faulty math.The board may still consider a proposal that would include smaller hikes but for customers.File photo via Pima County.
