The Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the decedent and alleged shooter involved in the Oct. 4 shooting aboard an Amtrak train in downtown Tucson as Darrion Taylor, 26.
Medical Examiner Dr. Gregory Hess said the cause of death was gunshot wounds of the trunk and extremities. The gunshot wounds were not self-inflicted. The postmortem examination was performed on Oct. 4, and the decedent was released from the Medical Examiner’s Office Oct. 6. The postmortem exam report with more detailed information concerning the findings of the examination should be completed by mid to late November, Dr. Hess said. Follow-up questions concerning the incident and circumstances are best directed towards the investigating law enforcement agency. The Medical Examiner’s Office will not have additional comments about the examination until the release of the completed examination report.
