February 1-28, 2021 is Black History Month. Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by Black individuals and a time for recognizing the central role of the Black community in U.S. history.

Each year the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) selects a theme for Black History Month and the 2021 theme is 2021 - The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity. To learn more about ASALH, visit their website at https://asalh.org/.

Online Events

The Kindred team will be hosting a monthly virtual book club beginning with the book Twisted: The Tangled History of Black Hair Culture by Emma Dabiri on February 27. You can learn more about our Read Black program and register for the event here.

Arizona Humanities, through their FRANK Talks programs, are hosting several events during the month of February as well.
