The herd is learning together!
Denver the giraffe is now comfortable learning next to her newer herd members, Penelope and Sota. Check out the video below of the three learning together in an interactive session with their care team.
You can see the giraffes practicing touching their nose to a colorful ball on a stick, called a target. When they do this correctly they receive a treat! This behavior is one way their care team can ask the giraffes to move and orient their bodies and is useful for many other husbandry and veterinary behaviors.
