That day is this coming Thursday.Weather permitting.It's the annual controlled burn to get rid of dead thatched vegetation that might otherwise prevent the growth of new vegetation.The city says that the burn also enhances the water department's Mosquito Abatement Program and provides an exercise for Tucson Fire.The day of the burn, birds usually fly off at the first sense of fire and return later in the afternoon after the fires have been extinguished.Photo via Tucson Fire.
