Volunteering is so important—it helps develop and practice vital skills that are essential to building compassion and getting involved in community building.
Just because we're social distancing doesn't mean the Library isn't committed to offering you opportunities to volunteer and support others throughout the community.

What kinds of projects will teens work on?
We'll begin by participating in the Pima County Love Notes project, in which volunteers create and send cards to more than 55 assisted living and long-term care facilities, where residents are isolated from friends and family due to COVID-19 health restrictions.
We will support you by providing the kits and templates to create the notes, and mailing the notes once you've finished them. We'll also host a weekly Zoom-based crafting session where you can hang out with others virtually and work on notes together.

The Library will have the craft kits, including paper and colored pencils, at ten libraries, available for pick up:
- Joel D. Valdez Main Library
- Caviglia-Arivaca Library
- Salazar-Ajo Library
- Eckstrom-Columbus Library
- Joyner-Green Valley Library
- Mission Library
- Murphy-Wilmot Library
- Woods Memorial Library
- Sam Lena-South Tucson Library
- Oro Valley Public Library
This is just the first of many volunteer opportunities! Once the Pima Love Notes project ends, we'll get moving on other new and exciting adventures that will allow you to take on a virtual leadership role at the Library.
Future projects may include writing book reviews, illustrating Story Sketches, testing out activities and providing feedback, and co-hosting virtual programs.
