Tucson Albertsons Grocery Store Closing This Month
Albertsons Companies said closing stores in Tucson and Phoenix will strengthen its operations.

TUCSON, AZ — A trend toward online grocery shopping and home meal kits is putting pressure on brick-and-mortar grocery stores, including Albertsons. The store at 6363 E. 22nd Street is scheduled to close later this month.
Additionally, Albertsons Companies said it is closing two Phoenix-area Safeway stores. The two stores merged in 2015, but operate under their original names.
The Safeway stores that will close in the Phoenix area are at 3131 E. Thunderbird Road in Phoenix proper, and 5860 W. Thunderbird Road in Glendale.
