The Tucson Police Department rebukes any bias or hate towards our AAPI community members and stands firm in our support and commitment to protecting all members from hate and bias crimes.

Although the Tucson community has not seen a rise in these crimes, it does not mean it is not happening. TPD understands many victims of these crimes may be reluctant to come forward, however, if you or someone you know is a victim, you can rely on TPD for support and resources.

Recently, TPD took part in a round table discussion hosted by the Tucson Chinese Cultural Center. During this discussion, Tucson City Council Member Steve Kozachik along with members of the Tucson Police Department, Pima County Sheriff’s Department, and the Pima County Attorney’s Office were able to engage with the Asian community and covered topics such as:

∙ What constitutes a hate crime?
∙ What is Tucson doing about it?
∙ How can one protect themselves?

TPD’s Street Crime Interdiction Unit is responsible for investigating hate and bias crimes. The unit is comprised of detectives who are committed to building trust within the various communities we serve. Please do not be intimidated or discouraged to file a report as it is important to bring these matters forward so the appropriate resources can be provided. In the event of a language barrier, Language Line Solutions is available to assist with interpretation as well as the numerous TPD department members who speak various languages.

Anyone who suspects a hate or biased crime against the Asian American community, or other targeted communities, can file a report by doing one of the following:
