Tucson Police Shoot Suspect, Drivers Asked To Avoid Area: Report

East Ft. Lowell Road was closed between North 1st Avenue and North Park Avenue for an officer-involved shooting, police said.

TUCSON, AZ — Tucson police are working an officer-involved shooting on the 800 block of East Ft. Lowell. East Ft. Lowell Road is closed between North 1st Avenue and North Park Avenue, police said.

Officers are "ok," the police department said on twitter. Public information officers are heading to the scene.

The shooting happened in the northwest corner of the Hedrick Acres neighborhood.

Tucson police Sgt. Pete Dugan told The Arizona Daily Star a suspect was shot and suffered serious injuries. He was sent to a hospital.
