Tucson Students Honor Marjory Stoneman Douglas Massacre Victims
Students from all over Tucson walked out on Wednesday to honor the victims of the massacre in Florida last month and to call for action.
TUCSON, AZ – From the halls of Utterback to the halls of Cholla and several schools in between, students walked out of class on Wednesday to honor the 17 victims of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The massacre was exactly one month earlier.
It was part of of a nationwide movement with students remaining out of class for 17 minutes to honor the victims and call for action.
Gabrielle Giffords, the former Congresswoman who survived an assassination attempted in 2008 – she was one of 13 people wounded who survived – tweeted support for the students.

"Students across the country are showing more courage and conviction in their calls to stop gun violence than many members of Congress ever have," Giffords wrote.
