Police seek victims of ID theft, fraud (yumasun.com) โ€” Yuma Police are asking residents near the Yuma Townsite and north-end neighborhoods to check for missing IDs, financial documents, or mail after recovering numerous stolen cards and records tied to about 50 potential victims. Anyone noticing missing items or suspicious account activity is urged to contact YPD, file a report linked to this case, and closely monitor bank and credit card accounts while detectives continue their investigation.

Yuma Seeks Input on Infrastructure Improvements Plan (signalsaz.com) โ€” Yuma residents are being asked to weigh in on a proposed Infrastructure Improvements Plan that will shape future city facilities, public safety, parks, and transportation projects funded by development fees. A dropโ€‘in open house is set for Wednesday, Sept. 9, 4โ€“7 p.m., in Room 190 at Yuma City Hall, where you can review project ideas, ask questions, and share feedback before council adoption.

3. Yuma County Chamber of Commerce announces new exec. dir. Ben Smithwick (kawc.org) โ€” The Yuma County Chamber of Commerce has named Ben Smithwick as its new executive director, introducing him at a mixer on South 1st Avenue in Yuma. He'll lead business advocacy across Yuma, Somerton, San Luis, Wellton, and nearby tribal communities, and will appear Tuesday on KAWC's Yuma Edition to share more about his plans.

4. The Night Dolly Parton Performed in Yuma (kawc.org) โ€” Flags in Yuma and across Arizona are being lowered to half-staff through September 1 to honor Dolly Parton after her death in Nashville. Local residents and historian Jim Patrick are recalling her 1974 performance at Yuma's old Post Auditorium, while KOFA Border Radio airs a musical tribute celebrating her life and legacy.

5. Yuma-area man sentenced to nearly 11 years in prison for firearms trafficking (kyma.com) โ€” A man from the Yuma area has been sentenced to nearly 11 years in federal prison for helping funnel guns from Arizona dealers toward a Mexican cartel, disrupting a firearms trafficking cell operating locally. Federal prosecutors say his arrest also helped dismantle an armed group in San Luis, Mexico, and several co-defendants from Somerton, San Luis, and Mexico have already received prison terms.
