Man, 43, Killed in Yuma Two-Vehicle Crash on South Frontage Road (pacificattorneygroup.com) β A 43-year-old driver died after a pickup and Honda Accord collided Thursday evening at South Frontage Road and South Avenue 10E in Yuma. Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors, and the Yuma Police Department is continuing to investigate the fatal crash.

2. Tacos and Tunes returns to Yuma (yumasun.com) β A big free Tacos and Tunes festival is coming back to Desert Sun Stadium in Yuma on Saturday, Oct. 3, running from 3 to 11 p.m. Expect taco vendors, live bands, a car show, and a kids zone, plus security checks and a clear-bag policy to keep things safe and smooth for families.

3. YFD hosts two 9/11 events (kyma.com) β Yuma Fire Department brought residents and first responders together for a 9/11 stair-climb at the PNG building and a remembrance ceremony honoring fallen firefighters and victims. Organizers stressed the importance of keeping these traditions alive, especially since most current YFD members weren't yet in the fire service when the attacks occurred 25 years ago.

4. Cibola High School hosts West Wetlands Invitational (kyma.com) β Runners from Cibola High and other area schools packed Yuma's West Wetlands Park for a Saturday cross country invitational, where Brawley's boys and Cibola's girls took top honors. Local standout Giovanni Cabrera surged late to win boys varsity individually, while new Cibola coach Bernardo Montoya's influence is already showing on the Raiders' strong performances.
