Today's riddle: What is clean when it is black and dirty when it is white? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Yuma mother speaks out after son's gravesite was vandalized twice (kyma.com) — A Yuma mother is urging accountability after her son Danny Garcia's gravesite was vandalized twice, including incidents filmed and shared on social media. The Yuma Police Department stresses that damaging a grave is a felony and asks anyone who recognizes the suspects or has information about the vandalism to contact investigators immediately.
2. Level 2 sex offender notification issued for Somerton resident (yumasun.com) — Yuma County Sheriff's Office has issued a Level 2 sex offender notification for 58-year-old Miguel Angel Cabrera Rios, now living on South Lime Avenue in Somerton, and urges residents to stay informed through its OffenderWatch alerts. Officials stress the information is for community safety, not harassment, and ask anyone with concerns about criminal activity to contact the sheriff's office directly.
3. MCAS Yuma receives Commander-in-Chief Award (kyma.com) — Marine Corps Air Station Yuma has earned the prestigious 2026 Commander-in-Chief's Award for installation excellence, highlighting the base's impact on both local life and Marine Corps aviation. 4. Why Arizona officials now urge leaving pets at home for Mexico trips (azfamily.com) — Arizona wildlife officials in Yuma are warning residents who travel to Mexico to leave their pets at home as the New World screwworm parasite spreads closer to the state. Because the pest can infect livestock, pets, and rarely people, they recommend veterinary inspections and treatments for any animals that must cross the border and urge quick vet care if infestation is suspected.
5. EVelution Energy Secures USCIS Approval For Up To $64.8 Million EB-5 Financing (pulse2.com) — A large solar-powered cobalt processing facility planned for Yuma County has secured federal approval to pursue up to $64.8 million in EB-5 financing, moving the project closer to construction. Combined with Opportunity Zone funding and potential Export-Import Bank backing, the $450 million plant could eventually supply a significant share of U.S. cobalt demand and bring substantial investment and jobs to the area.
