🌱 Cyber Attack On YRMC? + Yuma Man Arrested On Weapon & Drug Charges

Here are the top three stories in Yuma today:

  1. The Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) has shut down its entire network to stop an attempted hacker who started attacking the system over the weekend. YRMC's IT department monitored suspicious activity over the weekend and acted quickly to shut down the malicious attempt. The department caught the intrusion again on Monday at around 4 p.m. and shut down the system. YRMC says the cyberattack was caught early and all patient information is still secure to the best of their knowledge. (KYMA)
  2. Over the weekend, an Arizona man was arrested on weapon and drug charges in Northeast Iowa. According to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office, 28-year-old Edgar Chavez of Yuma, Arizona, was arrested following a traffic stop on Highway 52 just south of Decorah just before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Upon further investigation, Chavez was arrested for operating while under the influence, possession of a dangerous weapon while intoxicated, and possession of a controlled substance. (KCHA News)
  3. An East County Deputy received help from Wellton-Mohawk Irrigation & Drainage District when they got a flat tire while responding to a medical assist call in the desert. Wellton-Mohawk responded to the scene quickly and helped the deputy get them on their way. The person in the desert was located and found in good health. (Yuma County Sheriff's Office)
